While Warren G. Harding coined the slogan "return to normalcy" a century ago, Joe Biden never uttered it in 2020, yet it served as the foundation for his presidential campaign. The roles reverse four years later. Normalcy is the platform of Donald Trump.
In 2020, Mr. Biden said that Mr. Trump was attempting to discredit him by "using the abuse of power and every element of the presidency." However, Mr. Biden used the government as a weapon against Mr. Trump. Mr. Biden informed advisors that he intended to bring charges against Mr. Trump, and Merrick Garland's Justice Department followed through, according to a 2022 New York Times article. No past president or presidential candidate from a major party has ever faced criminal charges.
Mr. Biden has referred to Mr. Trump as a potential autocrat. However, Mr. Biden issued a similar order and said, "The Supreme Court blocked it," when the Supreme Court rejected his effort to cancel student loans at public cost. However, it did not deter me. He also attempted to enforce an illegal Covid-19 vaccination requirement and disobeys our immigration rules.
Mr. Biden's blatant ineptitude has also led to pandemonium. "Dangerously incompetent and incapable... of world leadership and leadership at home," he said Mr. Trump in 2019.
In his first 100 days, Mr. Biden used 94 administrative orders to quickly undermine the Trump border policy, which set off a record-breaking surge in illegal immigration. Mr. Biden oversaw a historically humiliating pullout from Afghanistan. His mistakes cost thirteen American soldiers their lives, left nine thousand Americans behind, and gave the country—along with American weaponry valued at billions of dollars—to the Taliban and ISIS.
Has he brought about any improvement in any region of the world? Vladimir Putin considered Mr. Biden's vulnerability while deciding whether to attack Ukraine. Additionally, last year, Mr. Biden watched from his hands as a spy balloon from the Chinese Communist Party sailed over the United States. After ending President Trump's campaign of maximum pressure on Iran, Vice President Biden gave the ayatollahs an oil windfall of over $100 billion, which they used to finance Hamas. It is true that Mr. Biden finances both sides of the Israel-Hamas dispute.
There were no conflicts breaking out in Europe or the Middle East under Mr. Trump. China was held accountable, Mr. Putin was restrained, and the Abraham Accords were firmly established.
Remember about the economics. 1.4% was the rate of inflation when Mr. Biden began office. Following his political spending sprees of billions of dollars, it increased to 9%, the highest level in forty years. Real salaries are down 4% while prices are up 20% under his watch—22% for food and 41% for energy.
It is amazing how well Mr. Biden mimics his four-year-old Trump caricature. Mr. Biden is trying to convince Americans to give him four more years in office, but as the first debate draws near, those of us who really want things to return to normal should keep in mind what we have learned over the last four years.
